FOLLOWING the uproar of the red waste water discharge to the seawaters of Talisay City, Dumlog officials have launched an investigation of the incident.
“Didto mi ganihang buntag gikan na factory sa paper cups ug bags….Among gipangutana ang guard unsa tong tubig puwa ang color, ingon niya ink kuno to nasagol sa tubig,” said John Lee Bas, Dumlog councilman.
Dumlog is one of the coastal barangays of Talisay City.
Bas, in an interview with phliv.com, said he had no idea there was a paper cup factory in their barangay, until last Thursday, when a video of the water spill became viral. The video shows a pipe discharging red water to the seawaters of Dumlog. The video has since been shared by thousands of netizens in Facebook.
Bas said the spot where the factory of the paper cups is right now used to be a furniture business. On Thursday morning, he said they went to the said factory to investigate but they were not let in. The manager had also reportedly refused to meet them, he said.
The Dumlog official said they had already elevated the matter to the City Hall, where a meeting was already scheduled today.
After the video became viral, the discharge has stopped.
