Cebu chefs win sisig-cooking contest

Chefs from Cebu’s Golden Prince Hotel bagged the recently-concluded Unilever Food Solutions 2-Star Certified Sisig Master awards.

The award is an annual regional cook-off for cooks and chefs serving in dining outlets that serve local cuisine.

This year’s theme is “Bringing Sisig to the World” -  a competition not only for taste but also of how the participants creatively present their masterpieces.

This year, the biggest win was from Golden Prince Hotel & Suites’ Le’Mon restaurant chef Chef Sherry Lyn Seno who bagged the first place for an over-all win, among other awards her group took home. Seno is under the supervision of the hotel’s head chef Marlou Almasco.

Seno’s over-all winning recipe was one of a flavorful innovation of Sisig Ravioli with Garlic-Onion Yogurt Sauce and Seafood Garnishing, while the Bam-i and Sisig bruschetta with Mayo Dressing, also by Le’Mon restaurant’s Dino Inopiquez; the colorful Tamago-Sisig rolls with Dilis and Japanese Mayo by the hotel’s Japanese Chef Florence Ajon; and finally Felesisimo de la Pena’s salad appetizer of sisig on roasted eggplant, were all also crowd favorites.

The Certified Sisig Master competition is a venue to showcase the ingenuity of the Cebuanos when it comes to cooking. The dishes mentioned are all available at Golden Prince Hotel & Suites’ all day buffet restaurant, Le’Mon. - PR
