Merrell supports “Run for CHIGI”

Merrell, a global outdoor brand, has teamed up with Compassion for Humanity International Group Inc. (CHIGI) for its charity fun run slated on Sept. 2 at Parkmall, Mandaue City.

CHIGI is a non-profit organization working towards community development and empowerment.

Chigi CEO Tootsie Spaller, in a press conference at the Events Hive in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, said the proceeds of the run  will be used for the organization’s community adoption project in Barnagay Subangdaku of the same city. She said they have already 10 families under their care, where they provide livelihoods to the parents and scholarships to the children.

“(The run) is for the benefit of the adopted families of Subangdaku by providing them with livelihood projects and scholarship program for the kids,” said Spaller.

She said they have helped the mothers how to make dishwashing liquids, which Chigi markets so the families will earn.

Bien Probadora, race director, said that they are targeting at least 2,000 participants for next month’s run. He said they have already invited schools and churches to join them.

Registration fee starts at P350 for the 3K run, P400 for 5K, and P450 for 10K.

For its part, Merrell, in a statement said, it invites fitness enthusiast to “leave the four walls of the indoor gym and experience nature’s gym for some fresh air and beautiful scenery while working on your fitness goals and helping out communities.”
