Dr. CRB introduces new sunblock line, liposonix

Dr. CRB Aesthetic and Laser Clinic introduced another first in contouring and slimming, the liposonix machine.

“We are introducing the new body machine, the liposonix, the first in Cebu,” said Dr. Cecilia Ramos Bernal, the woman behind the Dr. CRB brand, during the launch at Circa 1900 in Cebu City.

Bernal said there are only four clinics that offer this “safe” slimming machine, and her clinic in Cebu is among them.

For one treatment in one hour, Bernal said the patient is guaranteed a one-cm smaller in his her abdominal part, or where the treatment is focused.

She, however, clarified that what they are offering is not weight loss, but a promise to give their patient the body size they want. She said the results are “not as fast as” that of liposuction but the procedure is “safer” as it is non-evasive.

The treatment is available in Dr. CRB clinic in Cebu.

Bernal said there are more Cebuanos who want to be slim but don’t want to go on a diet or exercise. The liposonix, she said, will help them in that department. Although she said the procedure will still require proper diet and some exercise for better results.

“People would want to be slim. And they don’t want the hassle of diet and exercise. But same thing, you have to have a diet and exercise. They should go hand in hand, there is no shortcut. You need to do a lot of work out,” she explained.

She said some go for shortcuts, which could lead to injury or worse death, but with Dr. CRB, they are “cautious” with their patients, especially those with diabetes or other illness. She said they have to ask for their medical history for them at Dr. CRB know if they qualify or not, then a medical clearance to ensure their safety.

“If it’s surgical there’s always a risk, no matter how cautious. With this, we minimize the risk. The results may not be as perfect as liposuction but it s the next best thing,” she said, adding the worse thing the patients can get are bruises.

She said most of their clients are Cebuanos and those living in Bohol, Masbate, Leyte and neighboring provinces. The age brackets are between 20 and 60, with the 25-40 age bracket are the “more health conscious.”

“They’re getting health conscious, aware. They want to look good on pictures. And there’s no time to exercise, so they come to us,” she said.

The liposonix is approved by the Food and Drugs Administration.

Meanwhile, Dr. CRB also launched its new line of sunblock products: the gel for the oily skin (anti-bacterial, moisturizing, anti-aging, cooling) with SPF 45. It is used for the face. The other sunblock product of Dr. CRB is the lotion, which is designed for the face and the body.

“This is for everyday use. Even if you stay at home, there are many lights at home which are as harmful as the sun,” said Bernal.

She said even if summer is over, it is still important to use sunblock, especially that anyone can have skin cancer because of sun exposure.

“Cancer usually occurs in the face or head, as it is more exposed to the sun. The consciousness of the sunblock is to decrease cancer. Using it should be part of the routine,” she said.

Dr. CRB was established in Cebu in 2003. It now has five branches (the Dr. CRB and Skinplicity clinics), one in Manila and four in Cebu.
