Yamaha's new MIO Aerox 155 |
In line with
its 10th year anniversary, Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. brought
1000 riders from all over the country to Cebu for the Yamaha Grand Prix 8.
“The
competition returns to the region of Cebu to give riders of the region the
opportunity to qualify for the finals,” read Yamaha’s official statement
released to the media.
The riders -
who are from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao – converged in SM City’s parking area
for the Yamaha Grand Prix 8 before proceeding to Danao City for the final part
of the tour.
Those coming
outside Cebu had to drive their Yamaha bikes all the way from Luzon or Mindanao
to meet and compete with other riders.
Yamaha’s statement further read that the “steady
increase of talent has propelled the quality of the race through the years with
the YGP standing as an avenue for competitors to hone their skills.”
Another
highlight in this leg of the racing series was the launching of the Mio Aerox
155, which is officially endorsed by Yamaha Ambassador Matteo Guidicelli. This
new model is said to be “a highly anticipated automatic” powered by Yamaha’s
state-of-the-art engine, the Blue Core.
The new model
was used by rivals Mickey Mazo and Romer Corbe on their face-off on the
racetrack at SM City’s parking lot. The two have garnered a significant
following for their skills with a motorcycle which led to their face-off in the
past.
After the race,
the 1000 YClub riders headed to Danasan for the celebration of their National
Touring. The event included games, performances, and raffle draws that each
ride to enjoy and enhance their camaraderie.
The Rev of
Decade is a movement that is historic and represents how much Yamaha is
intertwined with the Philippines. 10 years is only the beginning and the company
is eager to share more with the nation in the many decades to come.
