Presented by Alaska 2017 Jr. NBA Philippines will be in Cebu from March 11 to 12 for the Regional Selection Camp at Don Bosco Technology Center, Cebu City.
Jr. NBA and Alaska coaches will be there to find the best local basketball talents. Finalists selected from Day 2 will be brought to Manila in May for the Jr. NBA National Training Camp where they will get a chance to be trained by NBA talents.
In the 10 years of Jr. NBA Philippines, many Cebu locals have been selected as Jr. NBA All-Stars. This is the third Regional Selection Camp of Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska and is devoted to the Visayas region. Two other selection camps have already been conducted; one in Cagayan de Oro (for Mindanao) on February 11 and 12 and another in Lucena (for Southern Luzon) on February 25 and 26.
This is the fifth time that the Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camp will be held in Cebu.
The program has four stages: skills clinics in schools and communities, Regional Selection Camps, a National Training Camp and an NBA experience trip.
The top male and female players from the Cebu camp will advance to the National Training Camp which will be held in Manila on May 13 and 14.
An NBA and WNBA player or legend will be at the National Training Camp to help train and inspire the finalists. The program will select 8 Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars who will travel on an overseas NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia later this year. Past Jr. NBA All-Stars traveled to San Francisco, New York, Beijing, Hongkong, Shanghai, Los Angeles and Shenzhen.
Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA is the NBA’s international youth development program that promotes basketball participation, sportsmanship and teamwork, and an active lifestyle among children. The program is free and open to boys and girls between 10 and 14 years old.
