Google holds developers code camp in Cebu

The Google Developers Group (GDG) will host the Cebu Code Camp this Saturday (February 25) at the International Convention Center Cebu (IC3) in Cebu City.

Shad Roi dela Cruz, GDG Cebu’s community manager, said the Cebu Code Camp will focus on essential technical topics for developers, along with updates on the current development trends.

“The topics will range from Machine Learning, Firebase, Google Cloud, Material Design, Android and web trends this year,” he said in a press conference at Rico’s Lechon in Escario St., Cebu City, attended by the members of the media.

Romeo Nicolas Bonsocan, press relations for GDG Code Campo, said they have 1,500 slots for budding and senior developers all over the country, and as of Wednesday, they have 1,800 registrants already. The registration, which comes with freebies and free food, is free.

With the volume of registrants they are getting, Dela Cruz said they will have to place the more than 300 individuals in the waiting list. He explained that although they would want to welcome everyone who is willing to learn, they can only cater to 1,500 people.

Dela Cruz said the event will be a “great opportunity” for the young and senior developers in the country “to learn about the latest technologies straight from the Google’s experts.”

The speakers include Soonson Kwon, Google Developer Relation (GDR) in South Korea; Takuo Suzuki, program manager of Japan’s GDR; Manikanta Krishnamurthy, Erica Hanson, Sami Kizilbash and Thyre Yeow Bok, community/program managers of GDR-Singapore; and Junho Choi, co-founder of Neumob, Sunnyvale, California.
