Citing that it would ease traffic and give the Filipinos a chance to watch the Miss Universe pageant, Quezon City Representative Winston Castelo has pushed to declare January 30 a holiday.
“Last hosted by the Philippines in 1994, the much awaited competition of beautiful women from across the globe would be held right here in our country, so the more the occasion becomes very relevant for all of us,” Costelo said.
He said President Duterte should declare Monday a holiday so that the Filipinos can watch the pageant especially that the country is hosting it. This will also mean a tolerable traffic situation in the busy Manila streets.
“It would be a pity if our countrymen miss the opportunity to witness in their own backyard a contest where Filipinas have proven to excel and become certified champions on beauty and brains,” he said.
The pageant will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
